FORMOSA PLASTICS CORPORATION FORMOLON PR-440 Medium Molecular PVC Paste Resin Technical Data Sheet
Product Introduction
FORMOLON PR-440 is a medium-molecular-weight emulsion PVC paste resin with K74, developed for transparent, micro-foaming and solvent-based color paint plastisol systems. With optimized particle size distribution and powder porosity, it delivers low-to-medium Brookfield plastisol viscosity, outstanding air release capacity, excellent thermal stability and initial whiteness after curing. It features universal compatibility with various plasticizers, organic solvents and inorganic fillers, and endows finished products with superior transparency, water resistance and long-term weather resistance. It is widely used for non-foaming leather, micro-cellular foamed leather, glass dip coating, metal protective coating and solvent-based color coating production.
Core Product Advantages
  • Medium molecular weight (DP 1450±100), balanced plastisol viscosity ≤8000 cps, easy mixing with high filler loading for cost control
  • Excellent air release performance, eliminates tiny pinholes and bubbles on coating surface, guarantees smooth, transparent finished film
  • Superior thermal stability and initial color retention, no yellowing during high-temperature gelation, ideal for light-colored transparent coatings
  • Outstanding weather resistance & UV shielding, finished color paint maintains stable tone without fading under long-term outdoor exposure
  • Wide compatibility with all common plasticizers, solvents and mineral fillers, no flocculation or stratification of prepared plastisol
  • Low volatile matter ≤0.50%, avoids blister defects in high-temperature curing and baking process
  • High Severs flow rate ≥200 g/100sec, adapts to high-speed spreading, dip-coating and casting production lines
  • Moderate apparent density 0.20~0.30 g/cm³, uniform powder mixing during plastisol preparation

Storage & Safety Guidance
Storage Requirements
Store indoors in dry, cool and well-ventilated warehouse; place pallets under packages to isolate from damp ground. Avoid direct sunlight, high-temperature heat sources and humid environment to prevent moisture absorption and powder agglomeration. Seal bags tightly after opening, implement first-in first-out inventory management. Avoid long-term open-air exposure to prevent slight thermal yellowing.
Operation Safety
Wear dust-proof respirator, rubber protective gloves and safety goggles during feeding, mixing and plastisol preparation to avoid inhalation of PVC dust.
  • Eye contact: Rinse eyes continuously with plenty of clean water with eyelids fully opened, consult ophthalmologist if irritation persists
  • Skin contact: Thoroughly wash contaminated skin with running water and soap
  • Inhalation: Move exposed personnel to fresh air immediately; provide artificial respiration or oxygen if breathing difficulty occurs
Fire & Spill Treatment
The product is non-flammable; all conventional fire extinguishing media are applicable. Wear full protective gear and self-contained breathing apparatus when handling fire. Collect spilled powder mechanically to reduce dust generation, flush residual powder with large volume of clean water. Complete SDS safety document can be provided upon customer request.
Quality Statement
All listed technical data are typical reference values measured under standard laboratory test formula and environment, not legally binding acceptance standards. Formal product quality judgment shall subject to Formosa Plastics official Certificate of Analysis (CoA). Actual plastisol viscosity, transparency, weather resistance and processing performance will be affected by plasticizer type, filler dosage, mixing process, storage temperature and paste standing time. Small batch trial test before mass production is strongly recommended to verify product adaptability to your coating and leather production system.
All data contained in this TDS are based on current factory test knowledge and experience, and do not constitute any express or implied warranty of product performance.
